Pasquale Tanzini
Resident Poet with INMC Inc.
(Florence, Italy)
For almost twenty years, Pasquale Tanzini has been part of the many activities
of the NYU Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. Originally
a great supporter of the NYU Music in Italy Program, he was responsible
for our residence in Montevarchi (Arezzo, Tuscany), and a participant in
our many concerts and productions, in Montevarchi, Florence, Todi, Gubbio,
Camerino, Perugia, and many other Italian places, as well as here in New
York.
Pasquale has collaborated creatively with Dinu Ghezzo for several works,
now published by Seesaw Music Corporation in New York, and has appeared
with the NYU Contemporary Players and the CIPAM Ensemble in programs at
Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, etc.
A prolific writer and thinker, he was the Head Councillor for Culture
of the City of Montevarchi, and an important adviser of the INMC Inc. and
NYU activities in Italy. He is recipient of the ANMC Award (American New
Music Consortium, Inc.) and the INMC Award (International New Music Consortium,
Inc.).

Biographical Notes
- 1984 Registered in the National Association of Italian Journalists
Tuscany chapter.
- 1984 to present: gave Master Classes, Readings and Lectures about connections
between poetry and contemporary music.
- 1985-1988 Alderman for Culture and Head Councillor for Culture of the
City of Montevarchi (Arezzo)
- 1987 Appointed as Honorary Member of the Music Department at New York
University.
- 1988 Received Special Award from A.N.M.C. Inc.
- 1988 Received Special Award from I.N.M.C. and became a Resident poet
at INMC.
- 1988 Italian poetry Representative at the"Janacek Festival"
in Brno (Czechoslovakia).
- 1989 Published Italian poetry collection "Poesie degli anni '80".
- 1989 Became Publishing Editor of "Caleidoscopio", trimestral
periodical of poetry criticism.
- 1990 Won the "Via Regia" prize in Viareggio with his poem
"Summer's evening".
- 1991 Jury Member of the "Poet's Springtime" literary prize,
organized in Florence by Cultural Association Italy-France (sponsored by
Grenoble University).
- 1991 After four years of experiences in China, published the poetry
collection "Poesie d'amore alla finestra".
- 1991 Inaugurated the Contemporary Music Season with an absolute Italian
première, introducing John Cage performing at Sant'Agnese church
in Piazza Navona, Rome.
- 1992 Collaborated to projects under the aegis of N.Y. Historical Society.
- 1992 to present: Was nominated Publishing Editor of "Versiliana
Editrice" Florence.
- 1992 Wrote poetic texts for the NYU and INMC performance piece "Freedom".
- 1992 Participated in the Walt Whitman Celebrations in N.Y. with several
contributions.
- 1993 Travelled to Japan for study purposes.
- 1994 to present: Chairman of the Poet's Gulf Literary Prize Jury in
Lerici-La Spezia.
- 1995 to present: Chairman of the "La Rocca" Literary Prize
in San Miniato, Florence.
- 1996 Published "Three Italian love Songs" with the Seesaw
Music Corp. in New York.
- 1997 Wrote text for the musical piece "December Epitaph for INMC.
- 1997 Received the Florence-Europe-Mario Conti Prize. Winner of the
Golden Florin with Jury President's special mention.
- 1998 to present: Editor of "The Rainbow Kids", non profit
periodical published by the Association of Parents of Handicapped Children
(recognized by the Italian Ministry of Interior)
- 1999 Participated in the 17th International Book Fair in Barcelona
(Spain) with the Versiliana Publishing House.
- 2000 Wrote poetic text for "Aeneas' Voyages" for NYU and
INMC during their Italian Summer Festival.
